Brent V. McCarty, MD

Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon 

Dr. McCarty is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon that specializes in the treatment of the hand, wrist, and elbow. 

He completed a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama – Birmingham and has extensive training in all aspects of surgery on the arm including peripheral nerve surgery.  When indicated, he offers many advanced, less invasive surgical interventions including endoscopic carpal tunnel releases and arthroscopic surgery of the wrist and elbow.

Prior to his fellowship, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University Hospitals and Clinics where he had significant exposure to orthopedic trauma and sports medicine. 

Dr. McCarty was born in Meridian, MS.  He graduated from Millsaps College and received his MD from the University of Mississippi - School of Medicine.  He and his wife, Maggie, reside in Covington with their two sons.

Angie G. Crowell, OTR/L, CHT

Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Specialist  

Angie is a Louisiana native that received her degree in Occupational Therapy from Louisiana Health Sciences Center in August of 2000. She went on to specialize in Hand Therapy after completing a hand therapy fellowship at Texas Women’s University in 2002. She received her formal certification in hand therapy in 2005.

Angie’s experience includes treatment of acute post-op orthopedic patients, burn injuries, amputations, congenital deformities, chronic conditions of the upper extremity, sports-related injuries, and deficits due to disease. She offers compassionate skilled care for a wide variety of disorders involving the upper extremity (shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand). 

As a certified hand therapist, Angie utilizes a variety of tools and techniques including custom orthotic fabrication, wound and scar care, customized activity and exercise programs and management techniques for edema and pain. She also incorporates a tool-assisted soft tissue mobilization (a treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing response with the use of specialized acrylic tools).
